Next up for EveryLibrary: we are backing the “Save Our Libraries 2013” ballot committee in Santa Clara County CA. as they campaign to pass Measure A on August 27th, 2013. Voters there are being asked to reauthorize the Santa Clara County Library District’s current funding authority (about $33 per year per parcel). It is basic to the library’s operations, collections, services, and programs. Over 425,000 people are served by SCCL and it is a Top 100 library for good reason.  We are helping with a donation to the committee as well as consulting on the committee’s Get Out The Vote activities and social media strategy.  Measures like this one are about the primary funding source for libraries.  It is why we exist.  Without this Measure passing the system will have to make significant cuts and possibly close a day or more a week.  We don’t want to see that happen there, or anywhere.

Ballots go out on July 29th and need to be returned by mail by August 27th.  If you are in the area help spread the word, please.  If you want to see EveryLibrary in a position to help more campaigns like this, click through and donate.
